Introducing YOU ARE HERE, a 100-day endeavor in which I committed to creating architectural drawings daily. This project taught me the value of maintaining a consistent studio practice and allowed me to see architecture as a form of storytelling and enrichment rather than just functional structures. I gained a mindfulness practice of grounding myself which manifested through my exploration. Thus, I gained a deeper understanding of the art and craft of architectural design.
I grew to love this routine. This idea of being in the present mind and space. I was able to just focus on one detail or line. The world quickly melted into the one I was creating. I would find myself in flow more often than not. I was a peace. I learned over the days of drawing to not force it. To just breathe and be present and let the creativity flow through me. With both my feet on the ground I connected to the Earth. This was essential to further developing my creative process.
As one engages with my drawings I encourage a present mind, allowing the lines and colors to guide one's thoughts, reflecting one's immersive experience in the world around us. It's a reminder of the transformative power of art to provide an escape and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the world and connection to one another.
Ultimately, my perspective invites one to see buildings not merely as spaces, but as vessels brimming with untold stories and artistic inspiration. It encourages a more mindful and attentive approach to one's built environment, fostering a greater connection to the rich tapestry of human experiences it embodies.
